The Proposal
[pruh-poh-zuhl]
-- noun
1. an offer or suggestion of marriage.
It's not uncommon for Jason to ask Heather out. Because of this, she wasn't suspecting anything out of the ordinary would happen. After all, it was a Thursday evening and Jason rarely gets off work in time for an evening out. Showing up at her house, Jason announced the activity for the evening: taking pictures with an SLR digital camera he had borrowed from a friend.
You see, this had been a purchase Heather had been considering for a few weeks now. She had already dragged him to Costco several times to play with the SLR cameras on display, read their boxes, and evaluate which one would be the perfect fit for her. In his thoughtful way, Jason knew she would enjoy an evening with a camera. He suggested Mount Bonnell as their destination point, a beautiful lookout over the city and the sunset.
In the car, Heather received a phone call from one of her best girlfriends, Mallorie. Unaware of the significance of the evening, she answered the phone and had a lovely conversation. Even as they parked the car and walked up the scenic hill, she continued chatting on the phone. Meanwhile Jason was in a hurry to locate the perfect spot.
Once alone, off the phone, and overlooking the beautiful city of Austin, Jason knelt on one knee and asked Heather to marry him. She said yes! Later that evening he treated her to a fancy meal at an upscale downtown restaurant.
What Heather thought was a sweet idea for a casual Thursday night date turned into an evening that changed their lives forever. And they're glad it did.
